You should replace your tyres if you notice any of the following:

• Tread depth below 1.6mm: This is the legal minimum in the UK
• Visible damage: Cuts, bulges, or cracks in the tyre wall
• Uneven wear: Indicates alignment or balance issues
• Age: Tyres older than 5-6 years should be inspected regularly
• Vibrations: Unusual vibrations while driving may indicate tyre problems

The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre width and around the entire circumference. However, we recommend replacing tyres when the tread depth reaches 3mm for optimal safety and performance, especially in wet conditions. Our technicians will check your tread depth during any service and advise you accordingly.

You should check your tyre pressure at least once a month and before long journeys. Incorrect tyre pressure can affect fuel efficiency, tyre wear, and vehicle handling. The recommended pressure for your vehicle can usually be found in your vehicle handbook or on a sticker inside the driver's door frame. Our technicians always check and adjust tyre pressure as part of our service.

While it's technically legal to mix tyre brands, we don't recommend it for optimal performance and safety. Ideally, all four tyres should be the same brand, model, and tread pattern. At minimum, tyres on the same axle (front or rear) should match. If you need to replace just one or two tyres, we'll advise on the best options to maintain balanced handling and performance.

Winter tyres aren't legally required in the UK, but they can significantly improve safety and performance in cold, wet, and icy conditions. Winter tyres are designed to perform better when temperatures drop below 7°C, providing better grip, shorter braking distances, and improved handling. If you regularly drive in winter conditions or live in areas prone to snow and ice, winter tyres are a worthwhile investment. We can supply and fit winter tyres at your location.
